Rome City Commission levies penalty for underage alcohol sale

The Rome City Commission has approved a $1,000 fine for the Maple Food Mart for selling alcohol to an underage person.

The store also received a 10-day suspension of its beer package license.

The citation occurred on March 10 when the Rome City police and the Alcohol and Tobacco Division of the Georgia Department of Revenue conducted a compliance check at several establishments.

This was the store’s second violation in just 13 months.

The first violation occurred in February of 2020 and the store received a $500 monetary penalty and a letter of warning.
