Early Thursday morning traffic across all of Armuchee was severely impacted and backed up due to a fatal traffic accident that took place at Martha Berry Hwy at Berry College (North of GA 1 Loop).

According to information provided by the Rome Police Department, all north and southbound traffic travel was rerouted due to investigation of the crash site which was determined to be serious in nature.

A Silver 2013 Chevy Cruz driven by a 52-year-old Teresa A Knowles of Rome GA, was traveling Northbound on Martha Berry Highway.

A grey 2011 Ford Escape driven by a 58-year-old Matthew W Sealock of Rome GA, was traveling Southbound on Martha Berry Highway.

According to witness statements and roadway evidence, the silver Chevy Cruz crossed the centerline into the southbound lane of travel, where it struck the Grey Ford Escape head-on.

After impact, both vehicles came to an uncontrolled rest.
