CALHOUN POLICE DEPARTMENT

Two Chattanooga women were arrested following a high-speed chase on I-75 in Gordon County Monday.

A Calhoun Police Officer responded to the Calhoun Outlet Mall after getting a call that two women had grabbed handfuls of clothing at the Polo Ralph Lauren store and fled in a Ford Fusion.

The officer spotted the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

However, the Fusion sped up and continued onto the interstate, reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour and almost causing several wrecks.

A Gordon County Sheriff’s Deputy, who had joined the pursuit at Red Bud Road, then performed a PIT maneuver, and the Fusion spun out.

19-year old Miracle Bates and 21-year old Nychicia Driver were arrested on felony shoplifting charges.

Bates was also charged with fleeing or attempting to elude and a number of traffic violations.
