STAFF REPORTS
If you are interested in a job in public safety, the Thornton Recreation Center at North Floyd Park is the place to be this weekend.
A public safety job expo is from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday.
They will have answers to all your questions about a public safety career.
“A lot of people may be hesitant to walk into someplace, especially a public safety agency, to ask what public safety does and how they can get a job,” said Sgt. Chris Fincher with the Floyd County Police Department. “So, this is an opportunity for us to be available for those types of questions. High schools and colleges are getting ready for graduation right now and this is a time where a lot of people are looking for jobs. We want to be available for those requests and those needs.”
All county public safety agencies will be represented including Animal Control, E-911, Police, the Prison, and Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. Fincher said they are jobs available now.
“I know we have some, and speaking with a lot of these agencies and department heads, they all are reporting vacancies right now,” he said. “I think animal control has recently posted a job opening, so everybody is looking for folks to come in and work.”
