Someone rips out Child Abuse Prevention Month pinwheels in Cartersville

CITY OF CARTERSVILLE

Each year, as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month, pinwheels are placed in public places to raise awareness.

Overnight Monday, someone ripped out most of the pinwheels on the Bartow County Courthouse lawn.

Each of those pinwheels represents a child who has reported abuse.

Last year, 385 children reported abuse, in Bartow County alone.

A post on the Cartersville City Government Facebook page said “It’s sad and disappointing to know someone could be so disrespectful and uncaring by tearing them out.”

Thanks to the Cartersville Fire Department, a majority of the pinwheels were back in place as of Tuesday morning.
