National Weather Service & Floyd County Emergency Management –

Today (through 11 PM this evening) — A MARGINAL to SLIGHT risk for severe weather exists across far north GA today. As a warm front lifts north across the area, there is a risk for a few strong to severe storms mainly across far north Georgia.

Main storm threats:

  • Hail up to 1-1.25″
  • Isolated damaging winds > 60 MPH
  • Heavy rain / isolated flooding

Sunday — showers and thunderstorms along and ahead of a cold front will move southeast across the area throughout the day. A few storms within the line could be strong to severe with damaging winds being the primary threat. MARGINAL to SLIGHT risk for severe weather exists across much of the area.   • Northwest GA… ~7-11 AM
  • Metro Atlanta (I-85 corridor)…  12PM-3PM
