Due to the frigid temperatures and threat of black ice, Floyd County Schools will be closed Tuesday for all staff and students. Please note that all after-school activities are canceled for Tuesday as well.
Rome City Schools is scheduled for a flexible learning day on Tuesday. In addition to students, RCS administrators, educators and staff members will work virtually due to the potential threat of inclement weather in our area. Parents who have scheduled parent-teacher conferences will still be able to meet with their student’s teacher virtually. RCS administrators will notify the system of any changes to after-school activities after assessing the weather. The system will then notify students and parents if there are cancellations due to weather concerns.
Calhoun City Schools has made the decision to cancel in-person instruction Tuesday. Calhoun PreK, Primary and Elementary School students are to complete the inclement weather assignments posted on the Primary / Elementary Schools’ website. Calhoun Middle and High School students should complete the assignments posted in the Learning Management System.
Chattooga County Schools will have a virtual learning day.
Cherokee County, Alabama Schools will have a three-hour delayed opening.
DeKalb County, Alabama and Fort Payne Schools are closed.
All campuses of Georgia Northwestern Technical College will delay opening until 10 am on Tuesday
All Georgia Highlands College locations will have a delayed opening at 10 a.m. Tuesday. All in-person classes scheduled before 10 a.m. are canceled. Online classes will continue as scheduled.
Floyd County administrative offices will delay opening until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The delayed opening will give officials time to assess road and weather conditions. All essential personnel will report as scheduled unless they have made other arrangements with their supervisors. Any employees who may still have traveling difficulties due to the weather at 10:00 a.m. will need to contact their supervisors to make other arrangements.
All Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District offices, including the district office in Rome and all ten county health departments, will be closed today, Tuesday, February 16, and will open tomorrow. Wednesday, February 17, at regular operating hours. This affects health departments in Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding, Polk, and Walker counties. The Gordon County COVID-19 test site at the Senior Center, 150 Cambridge Court in Calhoun will not open today, Tuesday, February 16.
Individuals scheduled for COVID-19 vaccination appointments today at the affected health departments are being contacted to reschedule.
City of Rome staff will report to work at 10:00 a.m.
All Floyd Primary and Urgent Care offices, Floyd Family Medicine Residency, Floyd Outpatient Physical Therapy and Rehab, Floyd Corporate Support and Floyd Outpatient Wound Care will delay opening this morning until 10 a.m. because of the potentially icy road conditions. The Breast Center at Floyd will delay until 9 a.m. Patients who have impacted appointments will be contacted to reschedule.
All Harbin Clinic locations will delay opening on Tuesday until 10 a.m. At 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Harbin Clinic will post any updates or additional information on its website and social media pages. Patients whose appointments were impacted due to the delayed opening will be contacted to reschedule.
All Coosa Valley Credit Union locations will delay opening until 10 am on Tuesday.
River City Bank will delay opening until 10 a.m.
