A Gordon County man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident Sunday night that left a woman dead.

According to the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were dispatched to a residence on Scott Brown Road in Fairmount in response to a report of domestic violence.

A Fairmount police officer found a woman outside who’d suffered multiple stab wounds.

The woman was transported to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

36-year old Patrick H. O’Ree was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault.

A neighbor had intervened in the assault and held  O’Ree for a short time until the police arrived.
