Floyd County Commission meets Tuesday

The Floyd County Commission is set to vote on several recommendations from the Rome-Floyd Planning Commission when they meet Tuesday night.

The planning commission, by a 4-3 vote, is recommending approval of an ordinance amendment related to wildlife parks and zoos in the Agricultural-Residential and Suburban-Residential zoning districts.

The commission will also vote on a special use permit for a special events venue at 5405 Calhoun Road in Adairsville.

The planning commission voted 6-0 to recommend approval.

County commissioners will also consider a couple of rezoning requests.

One would rezone property on Alabama Highway from Suburban-Residential to Light Industrial while the other would change the zoning of property on Calhoun Highway from Suburban-Residential and Light Industrial to Heavy Industrial.

A special use permit for a cell tower on Martha Berry Highway is also on the agenda for the meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. at the Forum River Center.

The pre-meeting caucus begins at 4.
