The search continues for missing Centre woman

(Via WEIS Radio:) The search continues for a Cherokee County woman reported missing over the weekend.

According to a statement issued on the Ft Payne Police Department Facebook page, Yvonne Wood Covington of Centre was in the Ft Payne area visiting family for Christmas – last seen on Saturday.  The vehicle she was driving was located by the National Park Service the same night, on the Cherokee County side of the Highway 35 Bridge.

This investigation is being headed up by Ft Payne Police with assistance being provided by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

(From Little River Canyon National Preserve:) “The lot was closed today to accommodate a ground and aerial Search and Rescue operation looking for Yvonne Wood Covington from Centre, Alabama.
She was not located and the search was suspended for the evening. The Little River Falls parking lot will be closed again tomorrow morning to allow efforts to continue.
She was last seen on Saturday and the car she was driving was located by the National Park service, last night (Saturday 26th) on the Cherokee county side of the bridge of Highway 35.”
