While no deal has been finalized, it appears that the merger of the Chattooga County Library System with the Sara Hightower Regional Library in Rome is moving forward.

Last week, the Sara Hightower Regional Library posted on their website that they were looking for a library branch manager for the Summerville and Trion locations.  Applications for the job are being accepted through September 18th, according to the website.

Chattooga County Library Board of Trustees say that the merger would provide more resources for the local library, and that the Chattooga County Library Board would continue to oversee the operation of the branches in Summerville and Trion.

Also, the local board would be able to appoint one member to the Regional Library’s board of directors.

The local library system is funded by the county government, all four of the municipalities in the county and the local school system.
