Three arrested in shooting and car hopping incident in Bartow County

The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office has named three suspects connected to a shooting incident from July 25th at Mission Road and Road 2 South.

Law enforcement booked 17-year-old Madison Elizabeth Hanson of White, 19-year-old Austin Hodges Simmons of Cartersville, and 18-year-old Austin Blake Smith of Dahlonega into the Bartow County Jail July 28th for an aggravated assault involving the use of a firearm. Additionally, the BCSO charged Madison Hanson and Austin Simmons with entering a motor vehicle with intent to commit a crime. Austin Smith was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Their charges are related to a car hopping incident at the Bramblewood Estates that allegedly occurred during the early morning hours of the 25th. Concerned citizens followed the suspicious vehicle until at least five gunshots emanated from it at the intersection of Mission Road and Road 2 South.

No one was injured.
