STAFF REPORTS

A “Shelter in place” order approved by the Rome City Commission Monday night is now in effect.

The order took effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday and requires city residents to shelter in place within their homes unless for essential activities, government functions or to operate essential businesses.

The measure is in place to help limit the spread of Covid-19 and will be in effect until 11:59 p.m. on April 7, unless changed by further action of the City Commission.

Those who have to go out due to essentials are required to practice social distancing of at least six feet from anyone else.

On Tuesday, Rome City Manager Sammy Rich took to Facebook Live to clear up some misinformation about the order.
