Georgia gas prices decreased 5 cents at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.25 per gallon for regular unleaded. Monday’s state average is 5 cents less than a week ago, 5 cents less than this time last month, and 4 cents less than this time last year.

It now costs $33.75 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that is $7.35 less than what motorists paid in April of 2019 when pump prices hit their peak of $2.74 per gallon.

“Gas prices are less expensive on the week across the South and Southeast states,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Healthy stock levels and cheaper crude prices have alleviated pump price pains. However, the upcoming switchover to summer blend could break the downward trend in the coming weeks; we are also watching the impact of the coronavirus and what it could do to gasoline demand”

Local averages on Monday, according to AAA, were $2.17 in Gordon County, $2.21 in Floyd County, $2.18 in Bartow County, $2.20 in Chattooga County and $2.22 in Polk County.
