Four dead in Gordon County plane crash

Four people died in a plane crash Saturday in Gordon County.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the Cessna 501 Citation departed from Falcon Field in Peachtree City at around 9:45 a.m. en route to Nashville, Tennessee.

It crashed at around 10:15 a.m. in a heavily wooded area off Mauldin Road in Fairmount.

The three men and one woman on board all perished in the crash.

Their names have not yet been released.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Gordon County Coroner’s Office in identifying the victims.

The NTSB will look into air traffic control records, weather information, and maintenance records as part of their investigation.

A report is expected within the next 10 days.
