One person was transported to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga following a two-vehicle wreck in the 1300 block of Old Summerville Road Sunday morning.

According to Floyd County Police, a Chevy Cobalt driven by 58-year old Tammy Earwood crossed the center line and struck a Toyota Corolla driven by 17-year old Brindley Richey of Rome.

Earwood sustained a severe leg injury.

A Lifeflight helicopter was called to the scene, but Earwood ended up being taken to Erlanger via Redmond EMS.

She told police that she had looked down at something in her floorboard and when she looked back up it was too late to avoid the collision.

Richey was not seriously injured and police believed she was taken by personal vehicle to get checked out by a doctor.

The wreck occurred at 9:46 a.m.
