Early voting begins Monday

Early voting for the November 5 Municipal Election begins Monday.

City voters can vote in advance weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Floyd County Health Department on East 12th Street.

At this point, there is no weekend voting scheduled, but talks are ongoing.

Six seats on the Rome City Commission are up for grabs along with an alcohol referendum.

In Ward One, five candidates are seeking three seats.

They are incumbents Milton Slack, Bill Irmscher and Sundai Stevenson, along with Mark Cochran and Jim Bojo.

Meawnhile, in Ward Three, Incumbents Bill Collins and Craig McDaniel are running, along with JJ Walker Seifert, and Bonny Askew

The top three vote-getters in each ward are elected.

City voters will also decide the so-called “Brunch Bill” which would allow businesses to sell alcohol by the drink from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Sundays.
