Municipal Election qualifying begins Monday

Qualifying begins Monday for Municipal Elections in Rome and Cave Spring.

The qualifying period for the 2019 Rome City Commission Election will run until Friday in the City Clerk’s Office.

Six seats in Wards 1 and 3 are on the ballot.

In order to run for the Rome City Commission, a candidate must be 21 years of age or older, have been a city resident for at least a year, and be a registered voter and a resident of the Ward from which they run for at least ninety days prior to qualifying.

The $252 qualifying fee is 3% of the annual City Commission salary ($8,400).

In addition to meeting those requirements outlined in the City Charter, candidates will also be using the State of Georgia Notice of Candidacy and Affidavit.

General information is required on this form as well as verification that the candidate has not been convicted of certain felonies without that candidate’s civil rights being restored.

Qualifying for Cave Spring City Council and mayor ends on Wednesday.

Posts 1 and 2 are on the ballot and candidates will qualify at Cave Spring City Hall.
