Knights of Columbus gearing up for annual Labor Day BBQ

August 11, 2019–2:00 a.m.

NEWS RELEASE

A Rome tradition since 1967, the Knights of Columbus Labor Day Barbecue will be smoking again on Monday, Sept. 2, at Rome Civic Center.

Hundreds of guests have purchased virtual tons and gallons of Rome’s best barbecue, Brunswick stew and baked beans prepared with protected recipes that are more than five decades old.

And each year, after the barbecue, the Knights of Columbus from Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Rome reinvest profits back into our community. That’s almost $300,000 since the first year of assisting nonprofits in Rome and Floyd County.

The Knights will do it again this year at the Rome Civic Center across Turner McCall from Steak ‘n Shake.

Doors open at 10 a.m. sharp and stay open until 2 p.m. or until sold out. Guests are welcome to dine in or carry out. Options include barbecue plates, sandwiches or bulk sales of just about everything on the menu.

Also, the youth group of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church will offer baked goods for sale to cover holiday dessert needs.

Barbecue tickets are $10 each. Here’s what’s on the menu this Labor Day:

$10 plates with your choice of beef, pork, ribs or a quarter of a chicken — each served with Brunswick stew, baked beans, chips and bread included.
A pound of beef or pork to go, $10 each.
$5 sandwich combo.
$7 for half a chicken or a quart of baked beans.
$10 for a quart of Brunswick stew.
$8 for a third of a rack of spare ribs.

You can buy tickets at the door or from any member of the Knights of Columbus. For more, please call Saint Mary’s Catholic Church at 706-290-9000. Also, please see our website, www.kofcromega.us or www.facebook.com/kofcromega, for continuing updates.
