Walk with a Doc Saturday

July 19, 2019–8:00 a.m.

NEWS RELEASE

Your monthly opportunity to take some healthy steps with a Harbin Clinic doctor in beautiful Downtown Rome will be following a different route for the month of July.

Walk with a Doc, a free Harbin Clinic event, offers the chance to stroll and chat with Harbin physicians and hear tips and information on maintaining good health and wellness.

Dr. Kathryn Carroll of Pediatrics Rome and Dr. John-Scott Carroll of Family Medicine Rome invite you to join them on Saturday, July 20th at 9 a.m. at Bridgepoint Plaza for a walk along the Oostanaula River with wonderful views of historic Downtown Rome.

Another interesting twist this month will be a mid-route stop at the Harbin Clinic Gallery at Makervillage in the River District area on North 5th Avenue. Walkers will enjoy the work of local folk artist, Charles Wimpee at the new exhibit, “A Painted Life.”

At 85 years old, Mr. Wimpee tells stories of his life through his folk art, which he has enjoyed sharing with his fellow residents at The Gardens of Rome retirement home, as well as at Finster Fest at Paradise Garden in Summerville, Ga.

The gallery will honor Mr. Wimpee with a reception for the exhibit from 10 a.m. to noon on July 20th. Walk with a Doc participants will enjoy a stop at the event to view the work and have a chance to talk with Mr. Wimpee before heading back to Bridgepoint Plaza.

Afterwards, walkers are encouraged to take advantage of the chance to purchase fresh, local produce and other items at the Between the Rivers Farmers Market and take those healthy habits into the rest of the week.
