Lindale will celebrate America’s Birthday this weekend.
Restoration Lindale will host its 5th annual Independence Day Celebration Parade on Saturday.
There is no charge to participate in the parade, just show up for the lineup which is at Pepperell Primary School at 9:30 a.m.
The parade will make its way up Park Avenue to West 1st Street, beginning at 10 a.m., according to Tim Reynolds with Restoration Lindale.
“We are really excited about the parade this year,” he said. “Our grand marshal is Floyd County Sheriff Tim Burkhalter. Tim is a graduate of Pepperell High School. He and his team have always been very supportive of Restoration Lindale and the community. This is a way we can say thank you to him since he is getting ready to retire. Also, our honorary grand marshals will be our Lindale veterans.”
There will also be a festival along South 1st Street from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
“We have arts and crafts vendors and food vendors,” Reynolds added. “This year, the Rome Shrine Club will have deep-fried Oreos, funnel cakes, cotton candy and those types of things. There will be barbecue and some of our Lindale churches will be there. First Baptist Church usually gives out fresh-cut watermelon. It’s just the community coming to together to have a great time.”
There are also plans to do a wreath laying at the World War II Memorial Wall in front of the Gilbreath Center after the parade.
