The 2019 Heroes Unified blood drive at the joint law enforcement center and the Floyd County Jail Tuesday brought in an outstanding 124 units of life-saving blood at this critical time for our community.

Blood Assurance teamed up with Rome and Floyd County’s nine first-responder agencies for the 3rd annual event.

According to Mandy Perry with Blood Assurance said they will be able to treat 375 patients at local hospitals because of those donations.

Blood Assurance awarded a plaque to the First Responder Unit with the largest percentage of donors giving a usable unit.

The winner was the Floyd County E-911 with 34% of that unit donating.

“Our number is usually 30%, so for them to hit 34% was awesome,” Perry said.
