Former Alabama college athlete arrested in baseball-bat beating of duck

A teenager from Cartersville has been arrested in Alexander City Alabama in the baseball bat beating of a duck that occurred May 5.

According to al.com, 19-year old Jacob Thomas Frye is a former student-athlete at Central Alabama Community College.

He and 19-year-old Thomas “Landon” Grant are accused of taking the duck from a pond on the campus following a party.

The duck was beaten with a ball bat, placed in a bag and taken to a wooded area where it was found by a coach and taken to a veterinarian.

The duck had to be euthanized due to its injuries.

Frye and Grant are charged with felony animal cruelty.
