Man accused of stealing vehicles, setting fire to one of them

A Rome man is accused of stealing three automobiles and setting fire to one of them.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 29-year old Cody William Blaylock of an Oakland Avenue address was seen on surveillance footage taking a Dodge Caliber from a location on Huffaker Road on May 21, 2018.

The arrest warrant states that Blaylock was in an Infiniti passenger car that had been reported stolen in Canton.

After taking the Dodge, Blaylock reportedly parked it off of Huffaker Road several days later and set it on fire, almost completely destroying it.

Police say he also took a GMC Acadia from Buttermilk Road in Cave Spring on May 28, 2018, and a Hyundai Elantra from a location on Ausburn Drive in Rome on June 5, 2018.

Blaylock was also in possession of a stolen Infiniti G37 in June of 2018, according to the warrant.

He is charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle, theft by receiving stolen property, 1st-degree arson, and a probation violation.
