Faith Collins has been reappointed as chair of the Rome Board of Education.

Collins was elected by her fellow board members unanimously Tuesday night.

“I am just really excited and pleased,” she said. “I am honored to serve in this capacity again. I feel that anyone of the board members could have done it but I’m really excited they chose me again.”

Cheryl Huffman was elected vice-chair.

Collins was asked about the superintendent search.

“I do know that we’re going to have several interviews on January 21 and that’s where we are going to start,” she said. “I’m waiting for the Georgia School Boards Association to get back with me with the details.”

Lou Byars has been serving as interim superintendent since the departure of Dr. Mike Buck, who retired on September 30.
