September 12, 2017--9:40 a.m.

Rome Police are investigating a reported armed robbery at the Sunoco convenience store at 2039 Maple Road Monday night.

According to police reports, a white female and a black male entered the store just before 9:15 p.m. armed with handguns.

The man pointed his gun at the clerk’s face while the woman took money from the cash register.

The male suspect then told the female suspect that there was another cash register and to get the money out of it as well.

The two were only in the store for about 30 seconds and left in a silver car.

The owner of the business attempted to follow the suspects but lost them as they turned onto East 16th Street and headed toward Strand Street.

The female was about 5’6” or 5’7”, slender, and was wearing a black hoodie, black pants with a pink stripe and a black mask covering everything but her eyes.

The male was described as being 5’4” or 5’5, heavy set, with black stockings over his head and face only revealing his eyes.

He was also wearing a white t-shirt under a navy blue jacket with “New York” letters on the left chest.

$1,690 was taken during the robbery, according to the report.
