More information has been released regarding a deadly shooting on East Main Street Saturday night.

According to a Rome Police report, a witness told officers that the suspect, 48-year-old Frederick Duane Driver, walked from the area of the Lexus Lounge to the apartment of 44-year-old Randy Lamont Diamond, and knocked on the front door.

The witness told police that Diamond opened the door and stated: “Do you have my money?”

When told “No” Diamond punched Driver, who then left and walked back toward the club.

Driver then returned and was told by Diamond, who was on the front porch, to get off the property.

That’s when, according to the witness, Driver pulled out a pistol and began shooting, striking Diamond twice.

He was transported by Floyd EMS to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Frederick Duane Driver is asked to call Detective Pete Sailors at the Rome Police Department at (706) 238-5111.
