Fatal wreck in Calhoun Sunday morning

A Calhoun man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck early Sunday morning.

The Gordon Gazette reports that a 2019 Toyota Tacoma struck a tree on Erwin Street at around 4:30 a.m.

The driver, identified as 57-year old Robert Mickey Simpson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.

The wreck is one of four deadly wrecks to occur on Georgia roadways so far during the Labor Day Holiday Weekend.

The others were investigated by the Georgia State Patrol Post 40 in Albany, Post 31 in Valdosta, and Post 34 in Manchester.
