STAFF REPORTS

A new school year always brings a lot of excitement, and that is especially the case for students at Main Elementary who are starting classes in a brand new facility.

The Rome City School System held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday.

Following the ceremony, parents, students and the community got to tour the new facility, and meet the teachers.

In an effort to preserve the history and tradition of the old Main High School, commemorative bricks were sold.

They now line the entrance to the new facility to honor the past while looking forward to the future.

The construction of the new Main Elementary was funded by an extra penny tax for education approved overwhelmingly by voters.
