Atlanta man charged in smash and grab burglaries

A 31-year-old Atlanta man has been charged in connection with a couple of “smash and grab” burglaries in the Rome area, dating back nearly four years.

According to arrest warrants, Mario Demitrus Pass entered or aided others in entering Chuck’s Corner on South Broad Street by smashing a hole in the wall with a sledgehammer.

$80,000 in cash was taken during the break-in that occurred in December of 2015.

He is also charged in similar incidents at the E-Z Stop convenience store on Rockmart Highway in June of 2016 and at the Garden Lakes Food Mart on Huffaker Road in May of 2016.

The warrants state that Pass is a member of a street gang based in Oakland City, Atlanta.

He is charged with 1st and 2nd-degree burglary, smash and grab burglary and a violation of Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
