$10,000 in copper wiring stolen from former recycling center site

ROME POLICE REPORT

Rome Police are investigating the theft of approximately $10,000 worth of copper wire from the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center on Watters Street.

According to a Rome Police reports, someone broke into the center and stole the wire out of the electrical panels.

It is believed the incident occurred over the Independence Day holiday weekend.

The report states that on Monday of this week, three men sold a large amount of copper wire for $600 at another local recycling center.

Police are following up on that possible lead.
